In the year 2000, the private institute for accident reconstruction in Hamburg, Germany, was set up by Michael Weber. He and his team work exclusively for the courts.
Michael Weber holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began working in the field of forensic reconstruction and research in 1984. In the 32 years since, he has personally prepared more than 13000 expert reports.
He has also written extensively on reconstruction-related matters. The standard work ‘Accident Reconstruction’, published in 2007, was co-authored by him. Michael is also the author and editor of a standard work on the forensic investigation of insurance fraud, the author of twostandard references for lawyers concerning accident reconstruction Sachverständigenrech published by Berliner Wissenschaftsverlag and as co-author Verkehrsrecht by Beck-Verlag), and co-author of two books on whiplash injuries. Since 1986, he has published more than 40 scientific papers on accident-related issues. In 1997, the study ‘Do whiplash injuries occur in low speed rear impacts?’ was awarded the AcroMed Prize by the European Spine Society (first publishedin Spine No. 6, 1997). This study was presented by himself at the 1996 Whiplash Int. Symposium in Brussels and also at the 12th annual meeting of the NASS in New York.
Michael is today lecturer at the University of Graz and the Hagen LAW School. He speaks and writes fluently French, German and English. From 2001 until 2007, Michael had been the chairman of the EVU (European Association for Accident Research and Analysis). He succeeded to open the association to all European countries and of installing an international network of accident reconstructionists. Also the knowledge database of EVU (www.evuonline.org) was established. From 2004 until 2006 the QUERY project (Developing Guidelines for a Best Practice Qualification of Accident Analysts) was directed by him. Today, the EVU has grown to have about 500 members across Europe.

Im Jahr 2000 gründete Michael Weber das private Institut für Unfallanalysen in Hamburg. Dort werden ausschliesslich Aufträge für Zivil- und Strafgerichte bearbeitet. Er ist Diplomingenieur des Fachbereichs Maschinenbau. Seit 1984 arbeitet er in dem Bereich der forensischen Unfallrekonstruktion und -forschung und hat persönlich in den letzten 32 Jahren mehr als 13000 Gutachten erstellt.
Er hat auch in den verschiedenen Bereichen der Unfallrekonstruktion publiziert. In dem Fachbuch „Unfallrekonstruktion“, das in 2006 erschien, ist er Co-Autor. Er ist auch Autor und Herausgeber eines Standardwerks zur Aufklärung von Versicherungsbetrug und Autor zweier Fachwerke für Rechtsanwälte, die sich mit Unfallrekonstruktion befassen (Sachverständigenrecht vom Berliner Wissenschaftsverlag and Koautor in Verkehrsrecht vom Beck-Verlag ). Weiterhin ist er Co-Autor zweier Bücher zur technischen Problematik von Halswirbelschleudertraumata.
Seit 1986 hat er mehr als 40 Fachpublikationen zu unfallanalytischen Themen publiziert. 1997 wurde die Studie „Do whiplash injuries occur in low speed rear impacts?“ mit dem AcroMedPreis der „European Spine Society“ ausgezeichnet (Erstpublikation in Spine Nr. 6/1997).
Michael Weber arbeitet als Dozent im Masterstudiengang „Traffic Accident Research“ an der Universität of Graz und in der Ausbildung zum Verkehrsrechtsanwalt an der Hagen LAW School. Er beherrscht die französische, englische und deutsche Sprache fließend in Wort und Schrift. Von 2001 bis 2007 war er Vorstandsvorsitzen der EVU (Europäischen Vereinigung für Unfallforschung und Unfallanalyse). In diesen 6 Jahren ist es ihm gelungen, diese Vereinigung allen europäischen Ländern zu öffnen und ein internationales Netzwerk von Unfallanalytikern zu installieren. Außerdem wurde in dieser Zeit die Datenbank der EVU (www.evuonline.org) geschaffen. Heute hat die EVU mehr als 500 Mitglieder aus ganz Europa.
